Pet Wellness Exams in Philadelphia, PA
We are here to help you nurture the health and happiness of your pet—through expert care, genuine compassion, and a visit that feels as stress-free as possible.
High-Quality Veterinary Care for Your Best Friend
Wellness exams are one of the most important things you can do for your pet’s long-term health. Routine visits allow our veterinarians to catch potential problems early—often before symptoms appear—and to perform preventive care that keeps your pet healthy year after year. We recommend annual exams for most adult pets and more frequent visits for puppies, kittens, and seniors.
Each wellness visit at Companion Pet Hospital includes a thorough nose-to-tail physical examination, any scheduled vaccinations, and parasite prevention testing or products appropriate for your pet. It’s also a great opportunity to ask our team questions about your pet’s health, behavior, nutrition, or exercise needs.
Vaccinations
Keeping vaccinations current is one of the most effective ways to protect your pet from serious, preventable diseases. Not every pet requires the same vaccines or the same schedule—so at Companion Pet Hospital, our veterinarians build a vaccine protocol tailored to your pet’s age, lifestyle, and individual risk factors. Depending on the vaccine, administration may be subcutaneous (under the skin), oral, or intranasal.
Parasite Prevention
Parasites pose a real health risk to pets and people throughout Philadelphia. Left untreated, fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites can cause serious illness in your dog or cat—and some can be transmitted to other pets or family members in your home. Our team will recommend a parasite prevention plan that protects your pet from common threats, including fleas, ticks, ear mites, heartworms, roundworms, and tapeworms. Consistent prevention is far easier on your pet than treatment after the fact.
Puppy & Kitten Care
Bringing home a new puppy or kitten is one of life’s great joys—and those first months are critical for setting them up for a lifetime of good health. Our veterinary team provides complete physical exams, appropriate immunizations, deworming, and intestinal parasite testing during your new pet’s first visits. We’ll also walk you through nutrition, socialization, and what to expect as your pet grows. We love meeting new patients and can’t wait to meet yours.
Microchipping
Microchipping is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your pet if they’re ever lost. A tiny chip—roughly the size of a grain of rice—is injected under the skin between your pet’s shoulder blades. The procedure takes only a minute and requires no anesthesia. The chip can be read by any universal scanner at veterinary practices and shelters nationwide and is registered in a national database, so a lost pet can find their way back to you. It’s a small step that offers lasting peace of mind.
Interstate and International Health Certificates
As a federally accredited veterinary practice, Companion Pet Hospital can issue travel health certificates—also called Certificates of Veterinary Inspection—for healthy dogs and cats traveling with you. These federal documents confirm that your pet is healthy to travel and poses no health risk to other animals or people. Requirements vary by destination state, country, and airline, so we’ll work with you to determine exactly what your pet needs based on your travel plans.
